SUMMARY:Futures and Challenges: Music Cities & Scenes — at SXSW
DESCRIPTION: \n \n\n \n5:00-6:00 pm Panel\n\nFUTURES AND CHALLENGES: MUSIC CITIES & SCENES\nSXSW has showcased innovative Music Cities and their leaders for years now. Many cities have stepped into new organizing models for local change — and these have both worked and stumbled. We will discuss with the audience the impacts of these movements in both big cities and small scenes. We will share examples of best practices and big changes vs. policy recommendations\, including Night Mayor implementations and ways small cities are organizing around their live music scenes. The session will prompt the audience to think about their own work and communities with examples of how venues and organizations are programming\, co-creating\, organizing\, and educating artists for a great\, healthy local music scene. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\nSXSW\n\n\nThe South by Southwest® (SXSW®) Conference & Festivals celebrate the convergence of the interactive\, film\, and music industries. SUMMARY:Together: Master + Pub Under 1 Roof & Artist Impact — at SXSW
DESCRIPTION: \n \n\n \n12:30-1:30 pm Panel\n\nTOGETHER: MASTER+PUB UNDER 1 ROOF & ARTIST IMPACT\nIn the past\, the longstanding advice for artists was to keep your publishing and master rights in different companies to mitigate risk. Now\, increasingly we are seeing labels buying publishing rights and publishers administering masters and artists retaining either or both – why is this happening? In a world of transparency and digital uses such as synch that need both rights\, the fragmentation of rights is problematic and the traditional practice of keeping them separate is going by the wayside. Join a panel of experts to understand how artists can get the most out of their intellectual property\, choose the best partners\, and learn how labels and publishers are evolving their thinking. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nPANELISTS:\nBob Bruderman\, Kobalt MusicGigi Johnson\, Center for Creative Futures / UCLAVickie Nauman\, CrossBorderWorksAndrew Sparkler\, Downtown Music Publishing \n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\nSXSW\n\n\nExperience 10 days of unparalleled discovery\, learning\, and networking with creatives across tech\, film\, and music industries at the 2020 SXSW Conference & Festivals from March 13-22\, 2020 in Austin\, Texas. \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n				  \n\nBob Bruderman\nEVP\, Partnerships\,Kobalt Music \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n				  \n\nVickie Nauman\nFounder\,CrossBorderWorks \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n				  \n\nAndrew Sparkler\nSVP/Business Development\,Downtown Music Publishing \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n				  \n\nGigi Louisa Johnson\nPresident\,Maremel Institute
