SUMMARY:Co-Creating Futures
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Gig Johnson has given intensive workshops for three days to small groups of researchers from UIC Barcelona on new teaching methodologies: innovation\, artificial intelligence\, and creativity. The Co-creating Futures days\, in which Johnson participated\, were promoted by the Aula de Calidad e Innovación Docente de UIC Barcelona with the collaboration of the Puig Foundation\, which provides resources for scholarships and grants for teaching innovation. The Aula de Calidad e Innovación Docente was born with the aim of responding to the interest of teachers to implement innovation initiatives and projects in the classroom\, and to promote the continuous improvement of the teaching processes of all the teachers of UIC Barcelona. To this end\, dynamics are generated in the classroom that favor teaching innovation or that foster the concern for research in teaching innovation. \nFacebook Reels: https://www.facebook.com/reel/731409002184226

SUMMARY:Post-Pandemic Libraries: The Upcoming Era of Change
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Gigi Johnson opened the March 17 Virtual Workshop for the Friends of the National Library of Medicine. \nVideo: https://www.fnlm.org/post-pandemic-libraries-the-upcoming-era-of-change-march-17-2022-access/ \nPost-Pandemic Libraries: The Upcoming Era of Change\nThe COVID-19 global pandemic instantly reshaped how libraries function—from services to workflows\, from technologies to communications. As librarians continue to adjust to these sudden changes\, there remains the question of to what degree these changes will stick\, especially as the world’s population encounters future global shifts. Numerous lessons were learned during this pandemic\, but which ones will shape and improve the library profession? How will the social artifacts of our current pandemic become embedded in our organizations\, creating a “new normal” as well as pathways for new models of work? How have the information needs and behaviors of our user communities informed our libraries’ adaptations during the pandemic\, and how will we continue to meet their diverse needs in the long term? The keynote speakers and panelists will share and discuss how libraries\, particularly in the medical and health sciences fields\, can leverage change to create more agile\, informed\, and impactful libraries and librarians and to forge a more exciting and advanced future for librarianship. Join us as we shape tomorrow’s libraries. \nSponsored by: Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries\, Elsevier\, and Oxford PharmaGenesis\nSCHEDULE – All Times EST\n\n10:00 -10:10 AMWelcome and Introduction: Glen Campbell\, Chairman of the Board of Directors\, Friends of the National Library of Medicine\n10:15 – 11:00 AMOpening Keynote\, Gigi Johnson\, Maremel Institute\n11:05 – 11:50 AMTaking Action on COVID Lessons LearnedModerator: Melissa DeSantis\, Chair\, Association of Academic Health Sciences LibrariesSandra Franklin\, Emory UniversityKelvin Watson\, Las Vegas-Clark County Public Library DistrictBeth Whipple\, Indiana University\, Bart Ragon\, University of Virginia\, and Melissa Rethlefsen\, The University of New Mexico Health Sciences CenterPatricia Devine\, University of Washington\n11:55 AM – 12:30 PMMeal Break\n12:30 – 1:15 PMFuture of SpaceModerator: Anne Seymour\, Johns Hopkins UniversityDianne Babski\, National Library of MedicineDan Wilson\, University of VirginiaTim Tripp\, University Health NetworkCatherine Soehner\, University of Utah\n1:20 – 2:05 PMOrganizational Design/DevelopmentModerator: Tara Landry – President\, Canadian Health Libraries Association/Association des bibliothèques de la santé du CanadaDavid Lankes\, University of Texas\, AustinChris Shaffer\, University of California\, San FranciscoElaine Westbrooks\, the University of North Carolina at Chapel HillBridgit McCafferty and Lisa Hopkins\, Texas A&M University-Central Texas\n2:05 – 2:20 PMBreak\n2:20 – 3:05 PMBold Librarianship/Bold Library LeadershipMaureen Sullivan\, Maureen Sullivan AssociatesHannah Rutledge\, University of PennsylvaniaJonathan Cain\, Columbia UniversityLaMoya Burks\, Texarkana College\n3:05 – 3:15 PMWrap-upShannon Jones\, Medical University of South CarolinaHannah Rutledge\, University of Pennsylvania

SUMMARY:Keynote — at UC Cyber Security Virtual Summit
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Gigi Johnson keynoted this virtual event\, sharing “Augmenting Selves: Creating Lives and Futures in a Trained and Tracked Digital World”. \nDr. Johnson’s world changed two years ago. After two decades of work with companies and at UCLA exploring digital disruption\, an illness made her rethink how her own life and brain work with augmenting and nagging technologies. Our many challenges in this hyper-curated world are not just from our smart devices\, digital tools\, and platform marketplaces. She will challenge us to look as system designers and decision-makers at the darker underside of how digital systems train us to make major and minor life decisions\, how we can create digital extensions for a more focused life\, and how we can rethink how we learn and create in this trained and tracked digital world. \nThe event was the 10th Biannual UC Cyber Security Summit. \nLink to Program
